WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Non Congregate Shelter Supervisor supports the delivery of Red Cross services to clients staying at non-congregate shelters. Non-Congregate Shelter Supervisors complete a range of tasks necessary for non-congregate shelter operations and compassionately and professionally interact with clients and hotel operators to ensure their needs are met. Non-Congregate Shelter Supervisors support the day-to-day activities at non-congregate shelter sites which can include reception/registration, feeding support, communicating, and receiving information, coordinating with Shelter Resident Transition Caseworkers and community recovery partners, and other duties as assigned.

This position is located in Kahului, Maui.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):    

·         Focuses on maintaining professional daily service delivery and ensure hotel sites are being operated up to American Red Cross Non Congregate Shelter standards. 

·         Complete tasks and duties as assigned by NCS Shelter Site Manager at assigned non-congregate shelter site.

·         Communicates concerns, needs, and other issues to NCS Shelter Site Manager to help address gaps in service delivery.

·         Coordinate with NCS Shelter Site Manager on Client welfare checks, hotel room lock outs, and behavior issues.

·         Support NC Shelter Site Manager in maintaining relationship with hotel management, and participation in planning and execution of hotel consolidation and client transportation.

·         Additional duties may be assigned dependent on assignment.

Standard Schedule:

This is a temporary assignment expected to last 3 months to one year.

Work hours are 12 hours per day 6 days per week.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications): 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery.

Management experience: 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.

Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft applications and other web based systems.

A valid drivers license is required

Physical requirements may include the ability to sit or stand for long periods and adapt to long, irregular hours, and frequent schedule changes are required.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications): 

·         Must be able to provide compassionate care for clients with diverse needs and backgrounds.  

·         Ability to plan feeding and SRT schedule for daily completion of both tasks for all clients.

·         Good organizational and active listening skills.

·         Ability to stay calm in chaotic situations.  

·         Ability to manage and supervise more than 5 workers at a time.
