POSITION TITLE: Communications Specialist, Part-time, Temporary

DEPARTMENT: Member Services

FUNCTION

Assist and provide support to the Communications Manager, 10 – 16 hours per week. 

Support Member Services department as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General Duties

  • Social media support to help grow presence and engagement across platforms
    • Organize and maintain a content calendar
    • Assist with content creation for platforms like Instagram/Threads, Facebook, and LinkedIn – e.g., graphics, reels, draft post captions
      • Research trends, hashtags, and current topics relevant to the organization
      • Brainstorming sessions for potential social media campaigns that align with strategic priorities
    • Schedule posts, monitor engagement, and analyze performance metrics to share key insights and opportunities for engagement and growth
  • Project support as needed throughout the year
    • Award programs - e.g. Good Neighbor Award, Aloha ‘Aina Award, REALTORS® Care Fund. Assist with tasks to administer these programs from promotion on social media, organizing/compiling application packets for review, preparing award letters/communication, prepare materials, etc.
    • Core Standards: ongoing collection of files to be uploaded
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SCOPE OF POSITION

  • Reports to the Communications Manager.
  • Has contact with staff and members.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION

  • Interest in communications, marketing, public relations, or related fields
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms
  • Graphic design skills using Canva or Adobe Express (Photoshop/Illustrator is a plus)
  • Video creation/editing skills (Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, or other)
  • MS Office programs
  • Strong communications, writing, and proofreading skills
  • Understanding of strong branding
  • Understanding of social media trends, hashtags, and audience engagement strategies
  • Comfortable using scheduling and analytics tools (or willing to learn)
  • Professionalism and ability to represent the organization positively
  • Creative thinker with an eye for messaging and design
  • Flexible, eager to learn, and open to feedback
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and able to meet deadlines

FLSA CLASSIFICATION

Non-exempt position.

$125.00 per month parking reimbursement.
