Kumu is the title of the classroom instructor or teacher. The Kumu is responsible for modeling the values of aloha, kuleana, and ʻimi ʻike and upholding the legacy of unity and community of Ke Aliʻi Piʻilani. The Kumu will create a comfortable and welcoming environment where students can achieve academic success and thrive in Hawaiian language and Hawaiian cultural perspectives. The Kumu shall prioritize the academic, social, and behavioral growth of the students, maintain appropriate records regarding lessons created and student observations, and maintain a strong relationship with parents, working collaboratively with his/her colleagues and the administration for the benefit of the students and the school.
