Regular, Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration from date of hire), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai‘i's John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), Department of Psychiatry, located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $3,279 - $4,365.50/Mon.
DUTIES: Assists in the daily implementation of the requirements for the research and evaluation projects under supervision of the PI and Program Manager. Drives to conduct field research and evaluation following protocol or procedures set-up by the PI, including needs assessment, recruitment, interview/survey data collection, communication, and coordination with community partners. Performs literature searches and develops literature reviews. Assists in preparing, revising, and finalizing written reports and data visualization, as well as sharing in public/community forums by presentations and digital/electronic means (e.g. Zoom and other webinar platforms). May travel to the continental US and neighbor islands several times per year. Contributes to project tracking, data entry and management. Participates in interpretation and communication of research results, including data analysis.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Bachelor`s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in the Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Public Policy, Social Welfare, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Up to one (0-1) year of experience in research-related activities (e.g., quantitative/qualitative research, participant interviewing or surveying, tracking, data collection and management).
KNOWLEDGE
Basic knowledge of human subjects` protection and community-based approaches in research. Basic knowledge of data entry, management, and analysis.
ABILITIES & SKILLS
Proficient computer skills including word processing. Ability to collect, manage, and analyze interview data (written/spoken in English and Hawaiian Creole/Pidgin English). Basic ability to conduct literature searches and literature reviews. Effective oral and written communication skills, including written reports. Possess attention to detail and accuracy skills. Ability to meet multiple deadlines. Ability to use online data capture software (e.g., SurveyMonkey, REDCap, Google Forms). Ability to learn and implement research protocols. Must possess a valid driver`s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver`s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i`s No-Fault Driver`s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must complete Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Human Subject training within two (2) weeks from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within 30 days from date of hire, and re-certify annually. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. Must complete Community 101 for Researchers training within two (2) weeks from date of hire.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS
Ability to travel to the continental USA, throughout Oahu, the neighbor islands, and other locations specified by the projects for project meetings, conferences, data collection, other project needs.

As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies, procedures, and trainings and, as applicable, subject to the University of Hawai‘i's John A. Burns School of Medicine HIPAA/PHI privacy and security. Violation of the RCUH's, the UH's, or the business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.). Must complete the University of Hawai‘i's John A. Burns School of Medicine HIPAA/PHI privacy and security training immediately after hire or not later than employee`s initial exposure to HIPAA/PHI. Must maintain a current status on the University`s and/or the business entity's training requirements.
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional or academic experience in research-related activity. Familiarity with the University of Hawai‘i (UH) and Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i (RCUH) systems. Current CITI Research Ethics certification. Experience in data management and analysis using data management programs. Prior involvement with literature searches/reviews, and preparing reports and presentations for different audiences, including service providers, community stakeholders, policy-makers, and academics. Experience using online platforms for meetings and presentations.
