The Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction serves as a strategic partner in advancing academic excellence across the school. This role shapes the systems that support effective teaching and learning by ensuring curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning work together to promote continuous improvement. Working collaboratively with principals and academic leaders, the Coordinator aligns instructional resources, guides long-term planning, and supports consistent, high-quality learning experiences for students across all grade bands and programs.

Essential functions include driving the continuous improvement of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning to advance academic excellence and improve student outcomes. The Coordinator ensures curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment systems remain aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards, organizational priorities, educational research, and the diverse needs of students. They partner with principals and academic leaders to strengthen instructional systems, establish priorities, and promote consistency across grade bands and instructional programs.

The Coordinator leads the cyclical evaluation, selection, implementation, and refinement of curriculum, instructional resources, and assessment systems to ensure relevance, rigor, and effectiveness. They build educator capacity through instructional coaching, professional learning, collaborative planning, and evidence-based instructional practices that improve teaching and learning. The Coordinator promotes high-quality instruction by supporting the implementation of effective lesson design, curriculum maps, instructional resources, and instructional best practices across the school.

They leverage multiple sources of student achievement and instructional data to identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and guide continuous improvement efforts. The Coordinator oversees the planning, administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of state and local assessment programs to ensure accurate implementation and meaningful use of results. They coordinate schoolwide instructional resources, digital learning tools, substitute teacher systems, and academic programs to support consistent implementation and maximize student learning.

The Coordinator ensures timely and compliant English Learner identification and eligibility processes while supporting equitable access to instructional programs and services. They foster collaboration across academic departments to align initiatives, remove barriers to student success, and ensure a cohesive instructional experience for students and educators. The Coordinator champions innovation by evaluating emerging instructional practices, educational technologies, and research-based strategies that strengthen virtual teaching and learning. They contribute to school improvement planning and organizational initiatives through strategic planning, implementation support, program evaluation, and ongoing monitoring of academic priorities.

This role will supervise instructional coaches, instructional specialists, substitute teachers, and others as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Minimum required qualifications include a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, Reading, Assessment, Instructional Design, or a closely related field. Five years successful certificated educational experience and three years of experience in curriculum development, instructional coaching, school leadership, instructional technology, or a related leadership role. All PDE required clearances for school-based personnel.

Minimum required skill set includes great organizational and time management skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptable technology skills, experience using search engines (internet) for research projects, experience using a student information system and/or other type of database, and demonstrated competencies with general technology, Microsoft Office Platforms, Google Platforms, Zoom, etc.

The work environment is a home-based position with limited travel and will include limited overnight travel. This is estimated to be less than 15% of the time. Travel will be required for community events, professional development, conferences, and state testing.
