Residential AssistantMental Health Kokua (MHK) is hiring a Residential Assistant in Kailua-Kona (Big Island) to support adults with mental health challenges in a brand-new community-based residential home. This full-time, on-site role provides hands-on support with daily living, routines, and safety in a shared housing environment designed to promote stability, recovery, and new beginnings.As a Residential Assistant, you'll help create a safe, welcoming home from the ground up — building supportive relationships, establishing daily routines, and fostering an environment where residents can grow their independence and confidence.This is a unique opportunity to be part of a newly opening Kona residential program and help shape a positive home culture from the very beginning.This role is well-suited for applicants living in Kailua-Kona or nearby West Hawai?i communities.What You'll Do (Responsibilities)Daily Living Support: Assist residents with communication, personal care, meals, and routinesSafety & Crisis Response: Maintain safety, respond to emergencies, and document incidentsRecovery-Oriented Support: Encourage goals using person-centered, trauma-informed practicesProgram Activities: Support social, recreational, vocational, and educational activitiesCommunity Engagement: Support resident participation in community responsibilities and activitiesHousehold Operations: Assist with shopping, cleaning, and basic upkeepDocumentation & Communication: Complete documentation and communicate resident needsTeam Collaboration: Work with supervisors, case managers, and team membersResidential Assistant QualificationsMinimum: High school diploma or equivalentPreferred: Experience or coursework in behavioral health, human services, or supportive housingSkills: Reliability, compassion, clear communication, and emotional resilienceCertifications: TB clearance, CPR, and First Aid (or willingness to obtain)Fit for the Role: Comfortable working in a shared housing environment supporting adults in a community-based settingRequirements & Work ConditionsAbility to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screeningWork takes place in a shared housing/residential environmentAbility to lift up to 25 lbs and respond to emergenciesBenefits of Joining MHKMedical & Vision Insurance (UHA or Kaiser)Dental Insurance (HDS)Supplemental Insurance (Aflac)Pet Insurance403(b) Retirement PlanIdentity Theft & Legal ProtectionPaid Leave & Holiday PayPublic Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligibilityAt Mental Health Kokua, we believe in "Opportunities to Begin Again."
