Adjunct Faculty – Organic Chemistry I Lecture & Lab

Adjunct Faculty within the College of Professional Studies (CPS) are critical to the success of UNE's online programs. The role of the faculty in CPS is to facilitate the learning process for online students through timely and effective instruction and communication. Instructors also serve as mentors, sharing their experience to help guide students and ensure they achieve their educational and professional goals. The faculty facilitates the retention of students through creating a positive educational environment, allowing for students to derive the maximum benefits from the program in which they are enrolled. Instructors will receive supervision, collaboration, and guidance from the UNE Online Science Prerequisites for the Health Professions (SPHP) Program.

Faculty are responsible for: Providing expert and graduate level knowledge in Organic Chemistry I Guiding students through their educational experience while upholding and adhering to the CPS commitment to student success Providing timely response to student inquiries, within 24 hours Facilitating class instruction by engaging in the online course portal a minimum of 5 times per week Hosting a minimum of one hour of virtual office hours per week Having excellent collaborative and communication skills Willingness to analyze best practices in online Organic Chemistry education

The ideal candidate has experience teaching online in an educational setting, has demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and assessment, and has a passion for teaching Organic Chemistry. Master's degree in Organic Chemistry (or similar) – PhD preferred A minimum of three years teaching experience in the area of Organic Chemistry A desire to motivate and encourage students in academic and professional settings Expertise teaching online and the desire to learn and apply new technological approaches to education Experience using the Brightspace/D2L Learning Management system preferred

Compensation is based on student enrollment: $260 per student for classes with fewer than 15 students, or a flat rate of $3,900 for classes with 15-25 students.
