Duties

Plan, assign, and direct the work to be accomplished, ensure timely performance of satisfactory amounts and quality of work; evaluate performance; interview and makes selections for positions; and resolve grievances and serious complaints.

Develop and implement ways to improve management processes, promote team building, improve business practices, and eliminate or reduce barriers to successful Branch performance.

Interpret financial information for the Director and Executive Committee to assist them in evaluating programs for decision-making alternatives.

Compile and analyze narrative and statistical material for the assigned mission area concerning the budget and major research programs in preparation for briefings to NIH, DHHS, 0MB, the White House, and Congress.

Engage in program planning to judge the consequences of introducing new initiatives, or substantially revising current initiatives, to current program operations and to meet emerging mission requirements.

Oversee the grants financial management tracking and forecasting system of the NIAID to ensure proper utilization of extramural grant funds for all grant mechanisms.
