DescriptionPOSITION STATUS: 1.00 | PermanentSALARY RANGE: BU01 | BC09SALARY RATE: $70,272.00 (Annual Salary) based on the FTEJOB DUTIES: The Maintenance unit is responsible for maintaining the building and equipment, and the cleaning and upkeep of the grounds of the hospital. The Building Maintenance Worker I performs a variety of journey level maintenance and repair work in the upkeep of buildings and other structures, equipment, and grounds. Maintenance and repair functions include the performance of building trade skills such as electrical, plumbing, painting, welding, and mechanical skills. The position performs rotating on‑call services with other building maintenance workers and other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40‑hour work week.EDUCATION: None Required. Graduation from high school or equivalent preferred.EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Four years of work experience in performing a variety of building maintenance repair work or an equivalent combination of experience and training.KNOWLEDGE OF: Basic practices and methods in the repair of buildings, including safety procedures; common tools, equipment, and materials used in the carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical trades; electro‑mechanical appliances used in homes and other buildings.ABILITY TO: Determine need for repairs involving a variety of building trades; recognize hazards typical of the work; use hand tools utilized in a variety of building trades; read blueprints and sketches; estimate time and material needed to perform a job; make mechanical repairs to equipment and appliances; understand and follow oral and written instructions.All Civil Service Job Vacancies will be posted for a minimum of TEN (10) calendar days.The Hawaii Health Systems Corporation is an equal‑opportunity employer and complies with applicable state and federal laws relating to employment practices.QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Possession of the required amount of experience will not in itself be accepted as proof of qualification for the position.
