We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and empowered to be their authentic selves.About the Role:At AlphaSense, GenSearch is a production, customer-facing generative AI system delivering high-confidence answers across multiple domains.Our team owns the financial data agent within GenSearch — connecting AI reasoning to structured financial datasets — as well as the financial data web experiences that power fundamentals, M&A, screening, and other core capabilities.We are hiring a hands-on Principal Engineer to help us:Reduce latency in AI-powered financial answersSimplify fragmented and legacy-heavy architectureImprove cross-dataset querying and screeningShip new datasets and product capabilities without increasing systemic complexityThis role sits at the intersection of AI systems, financial data infrastructure, and product-grade web development.Who You Are:12+ years building and operating production systemsExperience operating at a Staff or Principal levelProven ability to simplify complex systems and reduce architectural entropyStrong background in distributed systems and performance optimizationExperience building AI-integrated systems (LLM orchestration, tool usage, retrieval, evaluation)Comfortable working across backend systems and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React)Experienced designing APIs and durable service contractsEffective at driving cross-team technical initiativesWhat You'll Do:Improve AI & PerformanceOptimize orchestration between LLM workflows, structured datasets, and servicesIntroduce performance benchmarks, observability standards, and SLO disciplineImprove reliability and correctness of AI-backed financial responsesSimplify ArchitectureReduce fragmentation across datasets and servicesPartner with data platform teams to define scalable dataset integration patternsRemove legacy complexity while continuing to shipBuild & Evolve Web ProductsContribute directly to backend and frontend systems powering financial data experiencesDefine durable contracts between AI-generated outputs and frontend consumersEnsure performance and usability at both API and product layersLead Across TeamsDrive technical initiatives spanning multiple engineering teamsAlign stakeholders on service boundaries and system design decisionsRaise the bar for system design, reliability, and operational rigorFor base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies and internal comparables. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location.
