Description
The SQL Report Developer is responsible for understanding the business and the administrative system designed to administer finance and insurance (F&I) products for the Company to develop reports for stakeholders. The individual is expected to understand and learn different aspects of the business and how it translates into data to ensure reporting created accurately presents the stakeholder's needs. The individual is also responsible for mapping data across several systems and automating processes using different software. Must be able to liaise with non-technical users across different teams to understand the business and map out reference tables based on different systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand different aspects of the business and system functionality related to it.
• Understand the database tables and how they relate to the different modules within the administrative system that relate to different aspects of the system.
• Develop reports for multiple stakeholders based on their understanding of the business and data.
• Ensure databases are backed up daily.
• Liaising with external partners when integrating with their systems is necessary to meet business needs.
• Analyze business needs to determine datapoints required on reports requested and dissect the database tables to determine how to gather the data and present it in a simplified manner for the business.
• Analyze different softwares and tools to identify best route for process improvements and automation.
• Analyze manual processes and make recommendations for automation and automate based on the selected alternative.
• Automate, schedule, and maintain a report inventory of all reports scheduled to go out regularly.
• Ability to match and map different sets of data based on business knowledge.
• Assist in research of issues during the data validation process to provide solutions for correcting data.
• Troubleshoot data or mapping issues and work with our system provider to resolve any bugs.
• Liaise with system administrator for any issues and enhancements needed and complete user acceptance. testing for system/database modifications and enhancements.
• Communicate database changes to all departments as required.
• Carry out testing for dealer/product launches as it relates to reporting and data.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or another related field
• 3+ experience using SaaS
• 3+ years' experience analyzing system functionality working in a professional business environment required
• 5+ years' experience with SQL, SSIS, SSRS and other database systems required for this role
• 2+ years' PowerBI, Python, Visual Studio experience preferred.
• Experience performing user acceptance testing required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), advanced excel required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to create and develop professional relationships with internal and external customers
