Location: Waimea, HI
Schedule: Monday-Friday | Day Shift
Setting: Onsite | Rural Acute Care Hospital
Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $102,000 - $114,000
  • Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift (Monday-Friday)
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call requirements
  • Please note: Mileage reimbursement and additional expense coverage are not provided
Position Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing patients and performing diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging procedures in accordance with established clinical protocols and safety standards. This role includes radiopharmaceutical administration, equipment operation, radiation safety compliance, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical workspace.
Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality nuclear medicine imaging studies following established protocols
  • Prepare and educate patients regarding procedures
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with radiation safety regulations
  • Operate nuclear medicine equipment, including gamma cameras, dose calibrators, survey meters, and uptake probes
  • Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot imaging equipment; report technical concerns promptly
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the imaging department
  • Participate in training and instructional support activities as needed
  • Provide patient care across all age groups, adapting to developmental and clinical needs
  • Adhere to infection control, radiation protection, and safety guidelines
Education, Licensure & Certification
  • Active Hawai'i Nuclear Medicine Technologist license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/HCP) certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of nuclear medicine experience preferred; strong new graduates may be considered
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of nuclear medicine physics and radiopharmaceutical administration
  • Knowledge of radiation safety standards and imaging quality assurance
  • Effective communication skills with physicians, radiologists, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with nuclear medicine imaging systems and related computer applications preferred
