Description

We're looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Business Analyst to join our growing team at Coforma.

This role will join a cross-functional team on an existing contract with the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). As a Business Analyst, you'll support FMCSA with a collection of web-hosted Tableau dashboards that facilitate quick, reliable, and accurate access to FMCSA data reporting (e.g., budget and financial reporting, grants management, tracking motor carrier vetting activities). You'll work on an established, agile development team to iteratively develop, enhance, and refine new and existing dashboards that both expand and bolster FMCSA's business operations. In addition, you'll play an instrumental part in the team's delivery of user support and training to FMCSA users.

Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience using Tableau is required. The ideal candidate will continue to grow their skill sets and capabilities in an emergent setting while directly contributing to the growth and maturation of our client's technical capabilities. $81,600 to $92,898.54 Annual Salary + Benefits + Growth Potential

Placement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate. An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:

  • Tier 1 - $81,600: Meets minimum qualification and experience requirements. Will need additional guidance and training beyond onboarding to perform key responsibilities of the role.
  • Tier 2 - $87,248.76: Experienced and fully competent. Will be able to independently perform key responsibilities of the role once onboarding is completed.
  • Tier 3 - $92,898.54:Highly experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.
To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.

This is a US-based remote position open to applicants in the states listed below. Some travel (~10%) to the DOT FMCSA headquarters in Washington, DC will be required.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Tableau dashboards and reports to support business and product decision
  • Analyze the goals and business objectives of stakeholders across multiple teams and develop solutions that fit their business needs
  • Troubleshoot data discrepancies and resolve reporting issues, and opportunities for improvement
  • Perform data reconciliation and quality/accuracy testing
  • Update and maintain SharePoint site content with supporting information for a variety of user processes (e.g., FAQs, access request guidance, user guides, etc.)
  • Monitor shared user support email box and directly engage with stakeholders and users for all types of inquiries including account and/or access issues, training/demos, enhancement requests, and more
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the requirements gathering process and develop and maintain documentation and process guides for internal procedures
In Your First 30 Days, You Will:
  • Complete new hire orientation training and meet with external counterparts and key stakeholders across the org
  • Identify and meet with key federal partners, subcontracting leads, and internal cross-functional peers to understand their pain points and expectations
  • Become familiar with the dashboards, their associated use cases, and underlying data within the web-based Tableau tool
  • Become familiar with recurring processes, workflows, and routine data reload processes and schedules
  • Understand the "why" behind previous architectural and policy decisions
After 60 Days:
  • Have a thorough understanding of the product including its features, data flows, users, and how it supports business objectives
  • Take ownership of smaller tasks and updates to existing dashboards and processes
  • Assist with data validation, troubleshooting, and basic analysis
  • Collaborate with team members to support ongoing projects and tasks
  • Apply feedback to improve accuracy, usability, and performance of dashboards
After 90 Days:
  • Assume full responsibility and accountability for all functions associated with the role
  • Transition from supporting smaller dashboard tasks and procedures to independently managing assigned updates and routine procedures without oversight from the project manager
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver solutions
  • Start developing and maintaining documentation and procedural guides for internal use
  • Operate as a fully integrated member of the team
Who You Are and What You Know (Knowledge and Experience Requirements)
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a Business Analyst role defining data and business process requirements (experience working on federal contracts is strongly preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency with Tableau and strong understanding and experience with data visualization and reporting required
  • Experience creating dashboards in Tableau and using Tableau Prep Builder for data preparation and backend support
  • Knowledge and grasp of the principles, theories, and concepts of the agile software development life cycle
  • Ability to work in a highly agile environment where work planning and execution occurs iteratively (baseline is weekly but often adapts to emerging needs from the customer)
  • Excellent time management and coordination skills with the ability to quickly adjust and reprioritize tasks and projects as needed
  • Comfortable working and directly engaging with a diverse group of technical stakeholders both independently and in group settings
  • Must have the ability to obtain Public Trust and pass a DOT background investigation
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
  • PMI-PBA® or CBAP® certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience using JIRA or similar issue and project tracking tools
  • Experience building and implementing effective workflow automations that optimize business processes, saving time and reducing reliance on manual input
  • Current/active Public Trust
  • Experience working for or with the Department of Transportation (DOT) is a plus
