About the Role
We are seeking a strong Tax Manager to join a well-established and growing public accounting firm in the Central Valley. This is a high impact leadership role designed for a seasoned tax professional who enjoys owning client relationships mentoring teams and serving as a trusted advisor to both clients and firm leadership.
This role is ideal for someone who brings deep technical tax expertise strong relational skills and a long-term mindset. With several senior leaders approaching retirement this position offers meaningful opportunity for continuity advancement and influence within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a primary advisor to clients providing strategic tax planning compliance and consulting services
Review complex individual business partnership and entity tax returns ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
Manage and mentor tax staff providing guidance training and performance feedback
Oversee tax engagements including workflow planning deadline management and quality control
Collaborate closely with firm leadership to support succession planning process improvement and team development
Stay current on federal and California tax law changes and proactively advise clients and internal teams
Build and maintain strong long term client relationships through clear communication and high service standards
Required Qualifications
Minimum 6 years of progressive tax experience in public accounting
Demonstrated experience reviewing complex tax returns and managing client relationships
Strong technical tax knowledge across individual and business taxation
Proven ability to lead mentor and develop tax professionals
Excellent communication skills with a consultative and relationship driven approach
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
CPA license preferred but not required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience serving privately held businesses and high net worth individuals
Exposure to succession planning and leadership transition environments
Comfort operating with autonomy and accountability in a hybrid work setting

In accordance with California law the salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience skills and qualifications.
