POSITION SUMMARY

The Volunteer Coordinator coordinates and supports the volunteer program, including recruitment, orientation, training, scheduling, and evaluation/performance. Supports fundraising efforts and Judi's House (JH) events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Operations:

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates Judi's House Volunteer program to ensure its constant improvement and effectiveness.
  • Ensures JH's Volunteer program is inclusive, diverse, and is led with respect, integrity, and compassion.
  • Develops and implements retention, appreciation, and engagement strategies for volunteers.
  • Collaboratively assess the needs of the organization's departments and recruit volunteers to support Judi's House services and mission.
  • Conducts orientation and coordinates appropriate training/mentoring for all volunteers.
  • Documents and maintains volunteer training materials, onboarding processes, and volunteer waivers.
  • Builds and maintains the volunteer schedule, resolves absence/coverage needs.
  • Ensures volunteer supervision, performance appraisal, feedback, and termination; consults with leadership to address complaints and mediates conflicts related to volunteers/interns/staff.
  • Reviews and collects all injury and accident reports regarding volunteers; identify ways to reduce risks/improve training, facility safety, or remedy non-compliance with protocols.
  • Maintains and enforces JH's policies/protocols pertaining to the Volunteer program.
Communication and Administration:
  • Promotes JH's volunteer opportunities through internal and external communications and communicates with volunteers in collaboration with Communications team.
  • Maintains volunteer database records.
  • Prepares and submits Volunteer budget in collaboration with Program and Philanthropy leadership.
Fundraising Support:
  • Supports fundraising efforts and JH events by recruiting volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinates in-kind donations to benefit programmatic and organizational needs.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Promote the values of JH/JAG throughout the organization and external relationships.
  • Attend team and organizational meetings, activities, and events as required.
  • Collaborate with JH/JAG staff and perform job duties to advance the organization's mission and vision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team, seeking guidance as appropriate.
  • Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Commitment to JH/JAG mission.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES

WORK ENVIRONMENT/SCHEDULE

Working in the office, employees can expect to stay closely connected to the mission, work in a bright new facility where Judi's House hosts many of its programs, and interface with a supportive and collaborative team of colleagues.

Hours & Schedule: Typical hours are Monday-Thursday, 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. during programming (about 40 weeks per year), and 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on Fridays and during program breaks. Candidates should expect to work approximately 2-3 Saturdays or Sundays per month to support volunteer groups. When evening or weekend work is required, flexible scheduling is provided in coordination with supervisors to support work-life balance.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of experience in volunteer management, human resources, or nonprofit operations; supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with other databases/software programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with tact, compassion, and good judgment.
  • Ability to multitask, show initiative, and work conscientiously with outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to positively lead, mentor, and assign volunteers to meet the organization's needs.
  • Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with other supervisors and departments including program, research, development, and administration.
  • Ability to research, collect information, and learn new skills to assist and guide volunteers.
Work and Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
  • Must possess a valid driver license and at least state required minimum of automobile insurance, clear DMV driving record and ability to provide own transportation.

Salary: $45,923 - $58,078
