Applicants will be contacted for an interview based on the current number of position openings at any given time and the applicant's probability to fill this position. The primary responsibility of a Store Office Clerk is to ensure accurate accountability of the stores daily sales, by counting and balancing the cash and other tenders turned in by cashiers and the Courtesy Counter, in a timely manner. A Store Office Clerk also ensures customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting all customers with courteous, pleasant, patient service and treatment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
You MUST perform the following duties regularly and up to company standards:
Collect accountability bags from Cashiers and the Courtesy Counter.
Count all cash, checks, and other forms of tenders, along with various coupons and refunds, and verify totals against transaction report for accuracy.
Prepare deposits for the bank.
Order change from the bank, verify order when its received, and balance the safe daily.
Balance controller for sales total.
Balance miscellaneous cash transactions (Coinstar, gift certificates, money orders, postage stamps, etc.), and input information into the computer.
Keep all cash on hand and log books balanced at all times.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
In order to provide the best possible service to our customers, the following duties are also required on an as-needed basis, during slow periods, or upon instruction by a supervisor, manager or designated person-in-charge.
Promptly, courteously and efficiently greet, thank, offer assistance, and meet the needs of all customers. Answer phone calls and assist co-workers and customers, as needed.
Verify and issue Supervisors till, loans, stamps, money orders, etc. to the Courtesy Counter.
Verify and process petty cash receipts and payments.
Verify and process invoices. Issue prepayment checks to vendors.
Check for returned checks from CSL and input information into the computer system.
Order supplies as needed.
Correct errors in Kronos and run weekly reports.
Record attendance information on the Time & Attendance Exception Reports. Forward reports with doctors notes to Human Resources.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.

MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND COMMUNICATION DEMANDS
MENTAL Continuously need to concentrate well, be fully alert and accurate, to perform all duties; be able to prioritize various tasks to maximize productivity and efficiency, even with frequent interruptions; have good mathematical abilities to count and balance sales totals, and to count cash and various tenders; be able to recognize discrepancies and questionable transactions.
PHYSICAL Continuously need to handle, use fingers, and corrected vision when performing all job duties; Have good eye-hand coordination when using adding machine and typewriter. Frequently sit when using the telephone, computer, typewriter, and to count tenders and balance totals. Occasionally need to stand and walk to go to the safe and use various machines (copier, food stamp endorser, etc.); Walk up and down the stairs to use the computer terminal in the Courtesy Counter; Stoop, kneel and bend to retrieve and replenish money from the money safe. Seldom need to reach when performing all duties; Push, pull and lift up to 35 lbs. when transporting money on top of a cart, to and from the money safe.
COMMUNICATION Frequently need to talk on the telephone to answer incoming calls, transfer calls to another department, respond to pages, use the PA system, and talk to vendors, co-workers and Administration personnel; use writing skills to make notes when performing all duties. Occasionally need to listen, talk to, and understand customers, supervisors and co-workers, and assist them with their requests when doing all job duties; Read when learning about new promotional programs and when given new office procedures.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Skills and Knowledge: Must have good math and basic accounting skills, be able to multi task to accomplish work on time, be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with workers, vendors and management, and be able to work under minimal or no supervision. Must have the ability to effectively use various office machines and computer software programs.
Education and Experience: Experience as a Cashier is beneficial to understanding the Store Office
duties.
