Massage Therapist

Primary Responsibilities:

As a Massage Therapist at our luxury resort spa, you will provide personalized, professional massage and body treatments that promote guest well-being, relaxation, and rejuvenation. This role requires exceptional knowledge of the healing arts, a commitment to the highest standards of service, and the ability to create a customized experience for each guest. You will contribute to the spa's mission of delivering outstanding guest service while supporting financial and operational goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Greet guests warmly, escort them to treatment rooms, and attend to their immediate needs throughout the spa visit.
  • Prepare treatment rooms to client specifications and property service standards.
  • Perform massages and body treatments professionally and safely, ensuring guest comfort at all times.
  • Conduct pre-treatment consultations to identify contraindications and tailor services appropriately.
  • Maintain treatment room cleanliness, restock supplies, fold and store linens, and ensure all spa areas (including locker rooms) are immaculate.
  • Uphold sanitation and sterilization standards in accordance with state law and spa policies.
  • Maintain professional ethics and ensure personalized, attentive service for every guest.
  • Actively promote spa treatments, services, packages, retail products, and seasonal promotions.
  • Educate guests on home care regimens and provide detailed aftercare plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, records, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, feedback, or complaints to ensure a positive spa experience.
  • Assist in general spa operations and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in staff training, workshops, and departmental meetings to stay current with spa protocols and offerings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Other Duties:
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, massage techniques, and the physiological effects of treatments.
  • Ability to provide multiple massage modalities (Swedish, Lomilomi, and Deep Tissue).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to educate and build rapport with guests.
  • Professional, cooperative, and positive attitude with sensitivity to guest and coworker needs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the work environment.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to support overall spa operations.
  • Computer literate and able to read schedules and operate spa software.
Working Conditions:
  • Comfortable working in a spa environment with exposure to lotions, oils, and other spa products.
Work Hours:
  • Must be able to work shifts and days determined by the Manager.
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Equipment Use:
  • Variety of therapeutic technology, telephone, and computer systems.
Mental and Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, reach, and perform massage techniques for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds (linens, spa equipment, or products).
  • Capability to lift and move up to 30 pounds (supplies, linens, or spa equipment).
Communication Demands:
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, managers, and guests/clients.
  • Ability to communicate over the phone.
Minimum Qualification:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a luxury resort spa environment.
  • Proven experience providing professional massage treatments to a variety of clients.
  • Valid Hawaii State Massage Therapy License.
  • Current professional liability insurance for massage therapy.
  • Certification in Swedish, Lomilomi and Deep Tissue massage modality.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid
Preferred Experience
  • Experience performing specialized massage techniques or spa treatments offered in a luxury resort setting.
  • Prior training or experience in guest service within a luxury hospitality environment.

Knowledge of spa retail products and ability to recommend and sell treatments and products to guests
