Location: West Palm Beach, FL or Houston, TX (Hybrid)
Compensation: $77,000-$110,000 base + 10% annual bonus
Schedule: Day Shift (Hybrid, Not Fully Remote)

Our partner, a global leader in building materials and innovative construction solutions, is seeking a Senior Sales & Use Tax Accountant to join their corporate tax team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a stable, high-performing organization where tax is viewed as a strategic function, not just compliance.

The Senior Sales & Use Tax Accountant will play a key role in managing multi-state sales and use tax compliance, audit defense, and transactional tax research. This individual will collaborate with internal teams and external taxing authorities to ensure accurate tax treatment and compliance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage multi-state sales and use tax audit defense, including preparing responses and working directly with taxing authorities
Prepare, review, and file accurate and timely sales and use tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
Research and interpret tax regulations to determine proper taxability of transactions and assess business impact
Stay current on sales and use tax law changes and regulatory updates
Perform monthly reconciliations related to sales and use tax general ledger accounts
Support improvements to internal controls, tax processes, and automation initiatives
Partner with accounting, procurement, operations, and compliance teams to ensure accurate tax application
Assist with system upgrades, data validation, and special tax-related projects

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
5+ years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax audit defense required
Master's degree and/or CPA preferred
Strong analytical skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Technical Skills

Advanced Excel proficiency
Strong computer skills in a Windows-based environment
Experience with Vertex tax software preferred
Experience with SAP a plus
