Job Summary

Guard, patrol, or monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules; respond to first aid emergencies; support occupational safety or risk mitigation initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Secure all facilities and ensure they are properly secured.
  • Monitor all emergency calls and fire alarms and ensure proper procedures are followed.
  • Report all calls such as hazard reports, medical assistance, and other security problems to the supervisor.
  • Issue citations to vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, carts, skateboards, and roller skates that violate university policies and regulations.
  • Report all crimes to the supervisor who in turn informs the police and the Director of Campus Security for appropriate action.
  • Monitor behavior in various settings and maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Refer incidents or unusual activities to appropriate site personnel for follow‑up.
  • Survey behavior with or without camera surveillance and visually scan areas for compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in opening/closing gates.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor with guests, employees, and administrative staff.
  • Render first aid care as needed.
  • Report potential risk management or occupational safety issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Submit hours for approval at the end of the week.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Commitment to 1 year of employment.
  • Complete guard training before starting employment.
  • Positive, can‑do attitude in all interactions and tasks.
  • General computer skills necessary for the role.
  • Obtain CPR/Basic First Aid certification within 60 days of hire date.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional defusion of stressful situations with tact and composure.
  • Punctuality and professionalism in attendance and conduct.
  • Work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Approximate Starting Hourly Rate

$14.00 - $15.00 (wage may vary based on education and experience).
