Laundry General Maintenance 2C

Primary Responsibilities:

The Laundry General Maintenance 2C is responsible for the proper maintenance and servicing of all equipment and laundry vehicles to attain maximum productivity and functionality in the plant operations. Will be responsible for keeping equipment and maintenance records. Will repair and replace an array of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems all while upholding a constant preventative maintenance schedule of all equipment. Is responsible for maintaining a current inventory and notifying direct supervisor of any equipment, spare components and chemicals needed. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair a multitude of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, to include extensive knowledge of electricity and PLC circuitry. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering drawings from a range of manufacturers. Will be required to maintain and operate two industrial-size boilers and their respective supporting components, i.e. feed water system, soft water system and steam traps. Will mix, add and analyze boiler chemicals. The employee in this role must have strong communication, observational, and operational skills that will be utilized when delegating assignments and training of junior personnel.

Essential Job:

  • Perform maintenance, repair, inspection and calibration of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and systems.
  • Operate boiler
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and HIOSH, safety, building codes and laws pertaining to his particular trade.
  • Direct and train lower graded personnel
  • Communicate with vendor(s) and manufacturer to troubleshoot and order needed products and parts for scope of work within their assigned jurisdiction.
  • Assist in special projects.
  • Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Follow safety procedures and standards.
  • Care and clean tools and equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as required.
  • Keep shop and work area clean and orderly.

Working Conditions:
  • The working environment is typical of an industrial facility including noise and vibration. An employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Personal Protective Equipment will be required for certain tasks.
  • May work in small, cramped areas, with no air conditioning or limited ventilation.
  • May work in high or elevated areas.

Work Hours:
  • Ability to work shift and days designated by the Director of Engineering/Assistant/Supervisor/Operations Assistant
  • Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week, when needed.

Equipment Use:
  • Ability to use Multimeter and/or motor megger.
  • Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines.
  • Ability to use repair and maintenance tools and equipment, i.e., refrigerant recovery machine, vacuum pump, torch, tubing cutter, wrenches, screwdrivers, tubing bender, electrical tester, drill, leveler, hammer, flashlight, snake, utility knife, wire strippers, manifold refrigerant gages, socket set, knee pads and gloves.
  • Cart or wagon, utility cart, vehicle

Mental and Physical Demands:
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload
  • Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  • Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
  • Able to bend, squat, stoop, lay down, reach, climb ladders to perform repair, maintenance and installation work.
  • Lift/carry and push/pull up to and over 50 lbs.
  • Able lead and direct lower rated personnel

Communication Demands:
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, managers, vendors and guests/clients.
  • Ability to communicate over the phone and radio.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • 2 year college or 3 years related work experience, preferred.
  • Able to read and understand manuals, instructions, etc. related to parts, tools and equipment, maintenance and repair.
  • Must have knowledge of common hydraulic systems, HVAC, Electrical 480/240v, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.
  • Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Driver's License when operating a vehicle
