Honolulu Board of Water Supply is hiring a Building Maintenance Repairer!
Take pride in keeping our facilities in top shape. In this role, you'll perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks to ensure our buildings, structures, and equipment remain safe, efficient, and well‑maintained.
What You'll Do
- Check and inspect buildings, structures, equipment, and facilities to determine maintenance needs.
- Repair, replace, paint, install or construct floors, windows, partitions, doors, locks, roofs, fences, gates, walks, driveways, foundations, sprinkler system washers, gaskets, electrical and plumbing fixtures, cabinets, furniture, and shelves.
- Service, regulate, and repair equipment such as water heaters, refrigerators, air conditioning units, electrical water coolers, electrical motors, and pumps.
- Fabricate articles from steel, sheet metal, pipes, wood, and wood products.
- Lay out, assemble, and maintain equipment for public events and construct special setups.
- Estimate material and labor costs.
- Purchase materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Operate a motor vehicle to perform repairs at various sites and transport needed materials for repairs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Work Requirement
- Work may require the use of ladders or scaffolding.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicable Skills
- Knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in the carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, mechanical, and electrical trades.
- Knowledge of plumbing and electrical equipment in buildings.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to determine the need for repairs involving a variety of building trades.
- Ability to use hand and power tools, power equipment, and testing devices utilized in a variety of building trades.
- Ability to install electrical and plumbing fixtures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
- Ability to estimate time and material needed to perform a job.
- Ability to do mechanical work with dexterity and safety.
License Requirement
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required. The current vacancy requires a valid driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.
