Summary

You will serve as an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR I in the ELECTRONICS SHOP, NUCLEAR OR NON-NUCLEAR SECTION, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.

Responsibilities

  • You will supervise the repair, removal, field changes, modifications, reinstallation, and checkout of systems and equipment assigned to Nuclear or Non-Nuclear Sections onboard submarines or surface crafts.
  • You will assign tasks, tools, equipment and materials to workers.
  • You will interpret plans and instructions for the work group.
  • You will keep all work operations under close observation and control.
  • You will resolve work problems and take action to overcome bottlenecks, equipment breakdowns, material shortages, and other delays, requesting special permission, decisions, or assistance from higher levels of authority.
  • You will plan the sequence of tasks, layouts, work assignments and any special work methods to be utilized.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must pass E‑Verify employment verification check.
  • Must be able to obtain an interim or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment drug test.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes during the work shift.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel as required.
  • Must be willing to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Must handle exposure to high noise levels, confined spaces, ladders, scaffolding, and potentially hazardous materials.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements are focused on the quality of experience rather than the length of time.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools (electronics).
  • Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc.

Additional Information

The President has ordered a government‑wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Salary is based on geographical location and is subject to change with the annual local wage surveys in accordance with the provisions of 5 CFR Part 532… (link omitted).

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

Temporary promotions may be extended up to 5 years at the discretion of management.
