CDS, as a SaaS platform, enables Cloud Providers to leverage VMware Cloud Infrastructure to deliver asset-light, customer centric, highly scalable Multi-Cloud offering to their customers.**Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?**+ You will become proficient with VMware Cloud Director Service and the SaaS delivery process.+ You will work closely with engineers in your team and Product Management to ensure continuous delivery of value to our customer base.+ You would own a broad aspect of Architecture, Design, Test, Deployment, and SaaS operations.+ You will work with product managers to define product roadmaps, translate roadmap into functional specs, and designs+ You will be involved in all phases of the service development lifecycle including DevOps, based on an agile development methodology.+ You will be work on cutting edge cloud technologies with other leaders in the field and developing solutions to problems that span across Cloud Director Service.**The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?**As part of the VMware Cloud Director Service Team, you will:+ Be able to break complex problems into simple scenarios that you estimate and deliver on time+ Feel comfortable writing software on one or more programming languages, preferably Java+ Readily take ownership in solving complex technical problems and building high- performance, highly available and scalable distributed systems.+ Mentor junior engineers on design, good coding practices+ Collaborate and work effectively with a highly skilled, geographically distributed team.+ Design, implement and deliver complex cloud solutions with a great degree of agility and high quality-assurance standards.+ Participate and influence code reviews, design reviews for robust and scalable products+ Provide feedback and improve technical documents. Build and present technical presentations to internal teams and partners**The technical experience in your background which may help your success in this new role include:**+ Bachelor's or master's degree or in Computer Science or equivalent with 8+ years of hands-on experience in software development using Java, REST APIs, Spring Boot and building scalable, high availability distributed systems+ 4+ years of providing hands-on technical mentorship to junior engineers and delivering a large-scale product working with cross functional teams+ Solid background in Object Oriented Programming & Design and RDBMS (Oracle/Postgres/Mysql)+ A SaaS background where you have been developing and operating a service is highly desirable.+ Strong experience with Docker Containers, Microservice architecture, Kubernetes, Terraform, Public Clouds (AWS, Azure) and SaaS Platform Infrastructures.+ Track record of architecting, designing reusable, high-performing and scalable systems along with solid knowledge of modern software engineering principles and frameworks+ Excellent verbal & written communication skills and executive presence along with a passion for collaborative development with an absolute focus on quality and operational efficiency+ Familiarity and exposure to fundamental concepts and basics of Networking and SDN are desired, but not necessary.**What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?**The team consists of more than 35 engineers spread across different scrum teams each with unique functional ownership and representing a significant part of Cloud Director Service. The global team is spread throughout VMware offices including Palo Alto, Boston, Austin, Sofia, and India.
