POSITION STATUS: 1.00 | Permanent

SALARY RANGE: BU13 | SR18

SALARY RATE: $55,080 based on the Full Time Employment

JOB DUTIES:

A. General Accounting

1. Prepares worksheets, financial reports, exhibits, and statements.

2. Compiles and tabulates fiscal information.

3. Maintains ledgers and other fiscal records.

4. Reconcile daily cash deposit and posting of cash receipts for facility.

B. Marginal Functions

1. Attends meetings related to fiscal matters as required.

2. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

C. Other Responsibilities

1. Communicates and interacts with patients, families and other staff members in a positive and courteous manner.

2. Complies with mandatory inservice requirements, e.g., patient rights, crisis prevention, annual mandatory health and safety, etc.

3. Maintains the strictest confidentiality of all facility and facility related employee/ patient information.

4. Participates in activities of department, i.e. JCAHO, Safety, Performance Improvement, and Infection Control.

5. Adheres to hospital rules and regulations, and policies and procedures.

6. Considers age-specific needs when serving or assisting patients:

___ Infants (0-2 years) ___ Adults (19-70 years) ___ Pediatrics (3-12 years) ___ Older Adults (greater than 70) ___ Adolescents (12-18 years)

7. Is aware of pain management and considers when interacting and assisting patients.

8. Uses knowledge of different cultures when interacting and assisting patients.

9. Plans and organizes workload and is aware and flexible to acute needs of the section.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated; the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with at least 12 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing subjects.

B. Experience: Six (6) months of progressively responsible professional accounting or auditing experience which may have included teaching accounting at the university level

C. Certification: none required.

D. Licensure: none required.

DESIRED SKILLS Knowledge of: Principles and practices of accounting; report writing, preparation and analysis of financial statements and financial report writing Ability to: Learn to apply various accounting methods, techniques, and procedures; learn and apply pertinent laws, rules and regulations applicable to the assigned department; deal effectively with people; operate adding and calculating machines.

Your letter requesting the Administrative Review must include: 1) The job title(s) and recruitment number(s), 2) the specific reason(s) you are requesting the review noting if there is statute or rule violation, and 3) any additional information you want to submit to substantiate your request. If you do not submit your request within the twenty (20) days deadline, no Administrative Review will be conducted. Since the Administrative Review is a prerequisite to subsequent steps, failure to utilize this process will make you ineligible for subsequent appeals. The administrative review, formal complaint and/or appeals hearing will not necessarily postpone the recruitment process and/or rescind a selection. If you do not agree with the Administrative Review, you may file a Formal Compliant and then, if you are still not satisfied, you can appeal to the HHSC Merit Appeals Board.
