Responsible Engineer (RE) for Nuclear Projects

We are seeking a Responsible Engineer (RE) who will be the primary technical authority for specific systems, components, or projects. This role ensures all engineering work meets regulatory, safety, and design requirements while overseeing the creation, review, and approval of engineering documents. The RE will ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory standards and assess risks to maintain nuclear safety.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the technical authority for specific systems or projects.
• Ensure all engineering work complies with regulatory, safety, and design requirements.
• Oversee creation, review, and approval of engineering documents such as drawings, specifications, and procedures.
• Maintain compliance with nuclear regulatory standards.
• Assess risks and ensure engineering decisions do not compromise nuclear safety.
• Coordinate across disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil) and with stakeholders (operations, maintenance, quality assurance).
• Manage engineering changes to maintain configuration control and traceability.

Essential Skills:

• Project management experience on a nuclear site.
• Experience working on budgets ranging from $300,000 to $4 million.
• Experience in construction and project coordination.
• Knowledge of change order processes.
• Understanding of electrical systems within nuclear projects.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• 4+ years as a Project Manager in nuclear projects.
• Experience with the standard design change process in the nuclear industry.
• US-based degree in construction management or related field is preferred.
• Experience managing projects within budgets ranging from $300,000 to $4 million.

Work Environment:

This position is fully remote, requiring candidates to be located in EST, CT, or MT time zones. The working hours are Monday-Thursday from 8 AM to 6 PM and Friday from 7 AM to Noon. It includes 1-2 weeks of accrued vacation and 6 paid holidays, with the potential for additional PTO if the role extends beyond the initial contract duration.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $67.31/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
