My client, a leading general contractor with projects statewide, is hiring a Construction Project Engineer (Commercial) to support major developments on Hawai'i Island. From hospitality and healthcare to mixed-use and retail projects, this role puts you at the center of projects that shape the community while offering clear growth opportunities in construction management.
What You'll Do
- Review and process submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs across architectural, structural, and MEP scopes.
- Provide hands-on field support to superintendents and project managers.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to maintain progress and quality.
- Assist with scheduling and cost tracking using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
- Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and long-lead items.
- Maintain quality control documentation, testing records, and inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, permitting, and company protocols.
- Collaborate with owners, architects, and design teams to resolve issues quickly.
- Balance time between the field and office to keep projects moving smoothly.
- Anticipate and solve construction sequencing and logistics challenges unique to Hawai'i Island.
- Uphold my client's reputation for safety, quality, and community-focused building.
- Demonstrate adaptability and initiative on diverse, fast-paced projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.
- 3-6 years of construction experience, ideally with commercial or vertical building projects.
- Familiarity with estimating, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam; Primavera P6 or MS Project preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Prior Hawai'i construction experience highly valued; Big Island-based candidates preferred.
