The Construction Estimator is a construction professional with heavy civil estimating experience, a strong background in infrastructure and site development projects, and the ability to build lasting client relationships while producing competitive, accurate bids.

Position Overview

A leading Hawaii-based heavy civil construction company seeks an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for public and private sector projects. This role is key in securing new work and supporting the company's growth, combining technical estimating expertise with relationship-building skills. The position can be based on Oahu or Maui and offers the opportunity to work on a variety of infrastructure, site development, and utility projects across the islands.

Responsibilities

• Identify and track upcoming bid opportunities in both public and private markets.
• Review and analyze bid documents, plans, specifications, and soil reports.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, schedules, and bid packages.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure complete coverage.
• Coordinate quantity takeoffs and assess project phasing, access, and constraints.
• Contribute to business development by building and maintaining client relationships.

Skills

• Quantity takeoff and bid preparation
• Proficiency with HCSS (HeavyBid/HeavyJob) and Bluebeam
• Cost analysis and risk assessment
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of hands-on heavy civil estimating experience.
• Proficiency with HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and Microsoft Office Suite.
