The County of Hawai`i is hiring for a Land Use Plans Checker II, SR-13 position in the Planning Department - West Hawai`i Division in Kailua-Kona. This is a career ladder position with a salary of $46,800.00 annually. The position is permanent and full-time with immediate vacancy.

The duties include reviewing building permit applications and architectural and cadastral plans for conformance to the Zoning Code and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations; reviewing and approving as authorized building permits for simple to moderately complex residential and commercial structures; receiving subdivision and zoning applications; and performing other related duties as required.

Minimum qualifications require a combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school, and one year of experience in reviewing building plans and specifications for compliance with provisions of laws, codes and/or ordinances. All applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be assigned a score of 70 points. An education and experience evaluation will be conducted based on the applicant's training, education and experience as presented in the application.
