There are currently multiple open and anticipated vacancies with theDepartment of Information Technology:

  • There is one (1) vacancy within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Computer Service Representative (CSR) Division, CSR Branch, Public Safety CSR, located at the Honolulu Ocean Safety Department.
    • This is a rare opportunity to build and implement cutting-edge technology solutions from the ground up to make a meaningful, long lasting impact on a brand-new city department.

      In this hands-on role, you will:

      • Design and develop innovative computer programs tailored to the unique challenges of ocean safety and emergency response.

      • Manage the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of vital hardware, software, and network systems that support critical operations on the frontlines.

      • Create clear and practical procedures, instructions, and guidelines to ensure smooth and effective technology use across the department.

  • There is one (1) vacancy within the ERP/CSR Division, CSR, General City Services Section, located at the Frank Fasi Municipal Building on the 5th Floor Building.
    • Become a key contributor to an innovative IT team dedicated to modernizing and automating critical systems throughout the City. In this important role, you will:
      • Develop and enhance computer programs that improved operational efficiency and service across multiple city departments.
      • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of diverse computer hardware, software, and network components vital to the City.
      • Help create procedures, instructions, and maintenance guidelines for both end users and system operators.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in public or business administration, accounting, mathematics or a related field.

Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Six months of stored computer programming experience.
Substitution: A Bachelor's degree in Information and Computer Science (ICS), Management Information Systems (MIS), or a Computer Science/Information Technology related field from a regionally-accredited four-year college or university may substitute for the six months of stored computer programming experience.
Verification Requirement: You must submit evidence of your Bachelor's degree in one of the above areas in order to be given credit for the substitution.
