Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic leader who is highly organized and capable of providing leadership, guidance and direction in achieving the hotel's vision and mission. Reporting to the Director of Rooms, the Director of Housekeeping is responsible for the overall cleanliness, maintenance and overall care of the hotel to include but not limited to public areas, guest rooms and heart of the house. The Director of Housekeeping is also responsible for the overall performance of the department as it relates to corporate and local objectives.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage strategic planning and implementation of processes for housekeeping
  • Act as key player in hotel's preventative maintenance program
  • Support the team through employee recognition and celebrations
  • See performance management through completion
  • Maintain ownership awareness of the departmental operating budget
  • Lead and coach the housekeeping team to deliver exceptional guest experiences and colleague satisfaction
  • Foster positive interdepartmental relationships to create a seamless experience
  • Ensure compliancy with department specific standards set by but not limited to Leading Quality Assurance, Fairmont Brand Standards, OSHA and LSOPs
  • Ensure that all guest and colleague requests are handled in an efficient and professional manner
  • Support company and hotel policies through active participation in EES, Health & Safety, RPS
  • Create a safe working environment through best practices and enforcing policies
  • Actively participate and ensure strong departmental representation in all hotel committees and activities
  • Develop departmental goals and measurements resulting in guest, colleague, brand and ownership satisfaction
  • Ongoing professional development, growth, and job satisfaction of all leaders and colleagues throughout the department
  • Strong financial acumen as it relates to budget and labor management
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and on-boarding of both permanent and temporary colleagues
  • Ensure accuracy of monthly inventories in order to efficiently plan out supply orders
  • Inspect all areas of the hotel and action concerns accordingly
  • Make certain that all instruction given in site alerts and group resumes are successfully carried out
  • Ensure that all guest concerns are resolved to full satisfaction
  • Guarantee accuracy in payroll, including incentives and gratuities

Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • 5+ years' experience in Housekeeping with a broad operational knowledge and a minimum 3 – 5 years in a senior leadership role is essential
  • Capable of managing a multitude of tasks and colleagues professionally
  • Proven ability to manage large teams in excess of 100 colleagues
  • Experience with managing within a unionized environment
  • Ability to analyze data and trends and create strategies for improvement
  • Familiarity with OPERA (PMS), REX, and Birch Street

Additional information

Salary Range: $100K - $125K USD

Visa Requirements: Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining U.S. work authorization.
