Position Scope

1. Performs all duties in preparing the IMU pit(s) and pig(s) for the IMU ceremony.
2. Maintains and cleans equipment and grounds used for cooking and presentation at the Ali'i Luau.

Requirements

• Prepares imu pit to size and monitors burning for proper heating of rocks.
• Prepares, seasons, and transports whole pig(s) and other materials, securing them in the IMU pit with banana leaves, stumps, burlap, plastic coverings, and weighted materials.
• Assembles and organizes wood and rocks, burning rocks in preparation for IMU cooking.
• Cleans area, tools, and equipment, removing debris and returning items to storage.
• Gathers and prepares equipment and materials for IMU cooking and transports to site.
• Cleans imu pit(s) of debris and prepares the area for the Ali'i Luau show.
• Performs other duties as assigned by culinary management.
• Must exemplify the University Honor Code, including dress and grooming standards.
• Preference for students available during academic breaks.

Work Schedule

19 hours; 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Monday through Saturday, with Wednesdays off

Approximate starting hourly rate:

$14.00 - $16.00. The wage may vary based on education and experience.
