We are seeking candidates for the position of Rail Vehicle Electrical / Electronic Maintainer - Specialist (0840) in our Rail Vehicle Maintenance Shops.
Compensation Data
- for SEPTA City Transit Division: $36.84/hr. (Increase to $40.93/hr. after 12 months)
- for SEPTA Suburban Transit Division: $35.85/hr. (Increase to $39.83/hr. after 12 months)
(Note, Candidate Division selection will be based on the needs of SEPTA)
OVERALL DESCRIPTION
As an experienced electronic specialist, you will inspect, analyze, diagnose, rate, and repair rail vehicle systems including electronic, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and auxiliary systems.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proficiently inspect, analyze, diagnose, rate, and repair rail vehicles, including electronic, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and auxiliary systems.
- Inspect, test, and perform circuit analysis with diagnostic test equipment to determine the extent of repairs needed.
- Make intermediate and permanent repairs to vehicles and/or equipment; work independently in a high voltage environment.
- Troubleshoot to component level effectively, minimizing unit out of service periods.
- Work from technical documents, specifications, drawings, schematics, and repair manuals.
- Interpret circuit configurations and technical specifications to identify failed or intermittent vehicle systems.
- Analyze waveforms and graphs to establish the integrity and serviceability of systems.
- Understand and repair controller-based systems and perform system analysis.
- Perform emergency duties as assigned and operate vehicles in specified locations.
- Comply with all safety and security policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent; must complete performance tests as required.
- Formal education should include a two-year technical school; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of technical training.
- Practical experience in electronics troubleshooting and repair, schematic interpretation, and diagnostic testing.
- Must possess required tools and equipment as identified in the job description.
- Complete written qualification tests in advanced electricity, basic math, hand tools, and schematics.
- Valid driver's license is required.
