Qualifications/Requirements: Minimum BS degree required; graduate degree preferred. Fundraising and grant management skills, familiarity with botanical gardens, ethnobotany and biodiversity conservation, minimum of 3 years management/administrative experience, basic knowledge of or interest in Hawaiian culture and history, ability to work independently, strong verbal and written skills, proficiency in appropriate computer applications required.
Responsibilities: Oversee all garden operations (plant conservation and display, education, research), reporting regulary to the board of trustees (Friends of Amy Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden). Manage the garden staff, budget and existing grants; successfully seek new grants and participate with the board in raising funds for the endowment. Manage a world class collection of traditional Hawaiian cultivated plants (cultigens and cultivars) and over twenty federally-listed threatened and endangered species. Build strategic partnerships with public, private, community and research institutions to forward the Friends-Garden mission.
