The Department of Environmental Services (ENV), Collection System Maintenance Division, is hiring for aLead Mechanical Repairer to operate as a working supervisor responsible for the efficient operation of the mechanical repair shop located in Aiea. This position supervises and participates in the maintenance, overhaul, repairs, layouts, assignments, construction, planning and estimating materials and equipment needed for a variety of sewer maintenance jobs in the shop or in the field.

Special Working Conditions: Employee will work in confined spaces and deep trenches, be exposed to active machinery, high voltages, depths and heights, toxic and explosive gases, high pressure fluid systems, and disease bearing wastewater. Works in obnoxious, filthy, and hazardous environments.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show demonstrated competence in performing the journey level duties of a Mechanical Repairer.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used in repairing mechanical equipment; and the functions and operating principles of a wide variety of mechanical equipment, including electric motors and small gasoline engines. Such experience must also have demonstrated the ability to repair and overhaul a variety of mechanical equipment and tools.

Examples of Qualifying Experience: automotive mechanic, heavy vehicle/fleet mechanic, generator mechanic, marine engine mechanic, small engine mechanic, utility mechanic, similar experience repairing and maintaining 2 and 4 cycle engines.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required. The current vacancy does not require a driver's license.
