The immediate vacancies are with the Department of Transportation, Highways Division.

Positions and Salary

  1. Engineering Aid III: $3,484 to $4,409 per month (SR-11, Step C - I)
  2. Engineering Aid IV: $3,768 to $4,766 per month (SR-13, Step C - I)

Job Requirements

Positions in this series require applying principles, methods, and techniques in a specific or limited area of engineering, along with practical knowledge of engineering systems, processes, structures, machinery, devices, or materials. Related manual, craft, instrument operation, mathematical, graphic, or management skills may also be required.

Level III

Performs routine technical, non-professional engineering tasks under general supervision; performs other duties as required.

Level IV

Performs standardized, non-professional, technical engineering functions under supervision; may serve as lead for a small group of lower-level engineering aids; performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Legal Authorization: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the U.S., or eligible for unrestricted employment.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent with courses in mathematics.
  • Engineering-Support Experience: 2 years for Level III, 3 years for Level IV in engineering-oriented functions involving inspection, testing, designing, surveying, drafting, or construction, requiring engineering terminology knowledge and mathematical skills.
  • Substitution: Relevant substitutions as per the Minimum Qualification Requirements.
  • License: Valid driver's license required at appointment.
