IMMEDIATE VACANCIES:

Position: Permanent Full-Time in Lahaina

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor oversees the operation, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of Class II, III, or IV wastewater treatment plants and related facilities, through subordinate supervisors. The role involves ensuring efficient plant operations, supervising staff, and responding to emergencies.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

These classes differ from the Assistant Wastewater Treatment Plant Operation and Maintenance Supervisor roles in that the Supervisor has immediate 24-hour responsibility for all operational activities, while the Assistant assists and participates in these activities without full supervisory authority.

Grade IV Responsibilities include:

• Supervising, through subordinate supervisors, all operational, maintenance, overhaul, and repair activities at a Class IV wastewater treatment plant.
• Maintaining 24-hour responsibility for the plant and related pumping facilities.
• Regulating flow, inspecting equipment, analyzing process data, and initiating process modifications.
• Supervising chemical feed systems, equipment maintenance, and laboratory sampling.
• Maintaining records, preparing reports, and responding to emergencies.

Training and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent, plus 4.5 years of experience in operation and maintenance of a Grade III or higher wastewater treatment plant, including 6 months in a supervisory role.

License Requirements:

• Hawaii Mandatory Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate.
• Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3).

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Supervision principles, plant operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, safety practices, and emergency response.
• Ability to plan, assign, supervise, operate plant equipment, diagnose issues, analyze data, and enforce safety rules.

Health and Physical Condition:

Candidates must meet health and physical standards suitable for the duties. Physical effort is classified as Light.
