These positions are located within the Department of Human Services in the Benefit, Employment and Support Services Division (BESSD) and Med-QUEST Division (MQD).

Salary: $3,621 to $4,582 per month (SR-12, Step C to I).

Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Period of Eligibility: Three (3) months for applicants who meet Minimum Qualification Requirements.

BESSD provides eligible clients with monthly benefits supporting essentials like food, clothing, shelter, and childcare. Eligibility Workers determine initial and ongoing eligibility for assistance programs.

MQD provides eligible low-income adults and children with access to health and medical coverage through managed care plans. They determine eligibility for the State's medical assistance programs.

As an entry-level trainee, the Eligibility Worker I receives training on the philosophy, goals, functions, policies, and procedures of Public Assistance programs; recommends or determines eligibility; and performs related duties.

Qualifications:

  • Legal Authorization: Must be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the U.S., or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, or experience demonstrating verbal skills, reading comprehension, basic math, and continuous participation in related work.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of public contact work involving providing information, answering inquiries, explaining policies, and using a computer.
  • Substitution: 30 semester credit hours from an accredited college may substitute for one year of experience.
