Operations Manager

Description:

Responsible for managing and directing the strategic and operational objectives for a water and/or wastewater operations department.

Description of Primary Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for managing and directing the water and/or wastewater operations department.
  2. Participates in the development and implementation of the company's strategic plan.
  3. Responsible for the execution of the water and/or wastewater operations department's annual operations plan.
  4. Provides management and supervision to operations staff.
  5. Develops and maintains contracts and professional relationships with operations clients.

Professional & Technical Knowledge

  1. Possesses general work-related skills at a level consistent with completion of a high school program or equivalent, including communication, computational, and computer skills.
  2. Knowledge of practices and procedures used in operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment and pumping plant equipment, at a level expected of a State of Hawaii Grade IV WWTP or Grade II WTP Operator.
  3. Knowledge of sampling methods, physical and chemical tests, safety practices, process quality control, and emergency measures, at a similar level.
  4. Knowledge of practices and procedures used in operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  5. Knowledge of practices and procedures used in the preventive maintenance, rehabilitation, and repair of wastewater collection systems.
  6. Knowledge of regulations pertaining to wastewater and safety topics.

Technical Skills

  1. Ability to interpret meters and gauges, record readings, and maintain records, using basic mechanic tools.
  2. Ability to use scheduling software and computerized maintenance software (Ops 10/Antero/Field Aware/SCADA).
  3. Ability to prepare complex documents in Microsoft Word, including tables, charts, and graphs.
  4. Ability to analyze data using Microsoft Excel, including formulas and functions.

Licenses & Certifications

  1. Possesses a valid driver license.
  2. Possesses a valid State of Hawaii Grade IV WWTP or Grade II WTP Operator License and Grade II DSO License.

Communications Skills

  1. Communicates with clients on operations matters.
  2. Effectively communicates opinions and analysis.
  3. Resolves conflicts among employees, clients, or authorities.
  4. Convinces others to take desired actions.
  5. Prepares effective written reports and correspondence.

Physical Demands

  1. Meets health and physical standards necessary for the duties.
  2. Exposure to hazardous conditions.
  3. May require shift, weekend, and holiday work.
  4. Responds to emergency call outs.
  5. Capable of heavy lifting (50 lbs) and manual work under adverse conditions.

Pay Range: $109,200 - $139,300

An annual incentive bonus with an earning potential of 16% of base pay.
