Pay Range

Position Overview

Assists higher-level inspectors in inspecting the construction, alteration, or maintenance of buildings and structures of limited size and scope for compliance with building and zoning codes, ordinances, and adherence to plans and specifications. Performs related duties as required.

Current Vacancies

  • Two with the Department of Planning and Permitting (Customer Services Office)
  • One with the Building Division

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or a lawful permanent resident eligible for unrestricted employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant work experience may substitute.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in inspecting or supervising building construction, reading and applying building plans, or interpreting building codes.
  • Substitutions include an Associate degree in architectural or engineering drafting or a Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
  • Must submit proof of educational qualifications.
  • Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3) prior to appointment.

Additional Information

This is an entry-level, full-time position in government administration within the management and manufacturing industries.
