The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Systems Administrator (Linux). The position will support our government customer located in Kekaha, Hawai'i.

Provides Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration for all Clients and Servers connected to the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) classified and unclassified networks. Deploys Cyber Security mandated system upgrades, system patches, and system security lockdown requirements. Performs system-wide troubleshooting and problem resolution in a live mission environment.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Administer and manage all clients, servers, and end-user workstations connected to the classified and unclassified PMRF networks.
  2. Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update, patching, and core services related to Windows desktop OS, Windows server OS, Linux OS, and various applications.
  3. Provide Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, troubleshooting, and in-depth consulting for system operations.
  4. Implement DISA STIGs, system hardening, and work within configuration-managed environments.
  5. Participate in planning and management meetings, providing technical expertise and scheduling input.
  6. Determine and schedule server, software, and OS upgrades, ensuring documentation prior to implementation.
  7. Prioritize work based on performance and mission needs.
  8. Participate in contract proposals, negotiations, and modifications as needed.
  9. Manage users and groups, including use of centralized directory services.
  10. Configure local storage, file systems, permissions, encryption, and access controls.
  11. Operate and troubleshoot running systems, including virtual machines and services.
  12. Support application installation, license management, software tracking, and system backups.
  13. Maintain configuration control and adhere to all configuration management requirements.
  14. Develop and update procedures and standard operating procedures.
  15. Utilize command-line tools and documentation effectively.
  16. Prepare and submit status reports and technical briefs.
  17. Design and implement system modifications to improve performance.
  18. Participate in hardware planning, vendor interactions, and customer education.
  19. Collaborate with engineers on workstation and server use for computational tasks.
  20. Automate system maintenance tasks using shell scripting.
  21. Configure system logging, remote logging, and monitoring tools.
  22. Perform system asset management and license compliance.
  23. Support lab environment testing and buildouts.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned.
