Join Australia's submarine company, ASC, which maintains Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer for a long-term, world-leading training program in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

Placements are available in September 2025 and will last approximately 115 weeks.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing an integrated test schedule, review preliminary work packages, and recommend additional tests or modifications to meet safety, technical, and operational standards.
• Plan and execute the Work Control and Test Program for assigned ships using relevant documentation.
• Prepare detailed test procedures based on NAVSEA specifications.
• Coordinate and oversee HM&E and Combat Systems testing, managing efforts across teams.
• Develop schedules for hydrostatic, flush, operational testing, and sea trials to evaluate ship systems (non-nuclear).

Eligibility Criteria

• Australian Citizenship
• Bachelor of Engineering or relevant experience in testing and activation, plus Cert III Trade qualification in Engineering
• 1-5 years' experience (preferred)
• Experience in the defence industry or on submarines (preferred)
• Ability to obtain and maintain NV1 defence clearance

Additional Details

Training includes on-the-job and classroom instruction, conducted according to company and US Navy protocols. After deployment, you will return to Western Australia to work on the US Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling. Repatriation to WA is mandatory.

Note: This is a civilian role with a different recruitment process than active service defence roles.
