This posting will be used to fill various Cafeteria Helper positions at the specified location.

Salary Range

Cafeteria Helper, BC-02: $4,220.00 per month

Examples of Duties

  • Coordinate and work closely with other food service employees to ensure menu items are prepared in a timely manner to meet meal service times and/or satellite delivery schedules.
  • Review daily production records and secure necessary ingredients, food items, and equipment for preparation.
  • Clean and prepare fresh fruits and vegetables; prepare simple meal items such as toast, rice, and cereals; assemble salads, sandwiches, baked goods; and assist with dietary needs.
  • Portion and pack menu items for satellite feeding.
  • Set up serving counters, serve students and staff, and replenish food as needed.
  • Wash pots, pans, dishes, and utensils; clean work areas, counters, dining areas, and washrooms; sanitize utensils and equipment; sweep, scrub, and mop floors.
  • Label, store, and dispose of leftovers properly.
  • Receive provisions, document temperatures, report discrepancies, store goods correctly, record supplies used, and assist with inventory.
  • Oversee student helpers in the kitchen.
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training; meet annual training requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be able to read, write, and understand English, follow instructions, and perform basic arithmetic, demonstrated by high school graduation or relevant work experience.
