Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager, Supervisor, or Lead Landscape Worker, properly operates all equipment and hand tools; performs work on PVC irrigation systems; and performs various landscaping functions. Operates all landscape equipment, tools, and machines safely and appropriately, including but not limited to walk-behind mowers, riding mowers, weed-whackers, blowers, edgers, power hedge trimmers, chain saws, and power pole pruners. Contributes to managing the overall operation, organization, development, renovation, and maintenance of Landscaping Operations.

Compensation

$20.47/hour (non-exempt). This is a Union position with 2 openings.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to: Landscape Manager, Assistant Landscape Manager, and Lead Landscape Worker.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  • Perform general landscaping labor in assigned areas.
  • Maintain organized and clean landscape materials and ensure proper operation of ongoing activities.
  • Maintain inventory for landscaping projects, including watering, weeding, and organizing materials.
  • Assist in measuring and applying fertilizers and amendments with help from the Plant Health Technician.
  • Maintain professional appearance and operation of uniforms, tools, and equipment.
  • Participate in training, support, and guidance from Supervisors.
  • Engage in team-building activities and collaborative projects.
  • Report equipment maintenance and repair needs.
  • Operate landscape equipment safely and properly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in the landscape industry (Mid-upper level).
  • Adherence to safety standards.
  • Friendly and professional interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable work attendance and adherence to procedures.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Effective quick decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Required Work Cards/Certifications

  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly sit, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, handle, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distant, and color vision.
  • Occasionally operate objects, tools, or controls.
