Job Summary

The Warehouse Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with best practices. This position manages/supervises warehouse staff, optimizes processes for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping goods, and ensures operations run smoothly to support the university's goals. The Supervisor also handles procurement, inventory control, financial reporting, and compliance with safety regulations. This position requires a strong leader who can drive efficiency, develop team members, and implement strategic improvements to warehouse operations.

Primary Responsibilities

Operations & Leadership (50%)

  1. Supervise and lead a team of full-time, part-time, and student employees in warehouse operations, ensuring productivity, accuracy, and adherence to university policies.
  2. Oversee receiving, storage, order fulfillment, and dispatching of shipments while ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  3. Assign workloads and manage daily tasks to optimize efficiency.
  4. Develop and implement warehouse policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  5. Monitor inventory levels and procurement needs to support department functions and maintain stock accuracy.
  6. Oversee the maintenance and organization of warehouse facilities, ensuring cleanliness and operational efficiency.
  7. Ensure compliance with workplace safety protocols, including proper handling of forklifts and heavy equipment.
  8. Lead hiring initiatives, conduct interviews, and onboard new employees.
  9. Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance evaluations to drive professional development and employee engagement.

Administrative & Financial Management (35%)

  1. Prepare and manage warehouse financial transactions, including expense reports, purchase requisitions, and reconciliations.
  2. Provide operational and financial reports to senior management.
  3. Oversee the sale and disposal of surplus inventory and equipment.
  4. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and oversee procurement processes.
  5. Ensure accurate and timely processing of work orders, billing, and invoicing.
  6. Maintain detailed financial records, ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance with auditing.
  7. Handle customer and departmental inquiries related to shipping, receiving, and inventory management.
  8. Identify process improvement opportunities to streamline warehouse operations and reduce costs.

Training & Compliance (15%)

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive training programs on warehouse procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation.
  2. Conduct regular safety and compliance meetings to reinforce OSHA regulations and workplace safety.
  3. Provide ongoing professional development for employees.
  4. Address performance issues through structured feedback, coaching, and corrective action plans.

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or inventory management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job i.e. sitting for long periods of time in an enclosed room, working at the computer for long periods of time, ability to shelve heavy books overhead push heavy library book carts. Requires full range of motion. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Approximate starting hourly rate:

27.00 - 31.00

The wage offered could be above or below range based on education and experience as it relates to the job description.
