The major function of this position is:

The Retail Manager supports management in driving sales and achieving business results by delivering a premium customer experience, fostering positive employee relations, and maintaining efficient store operations, upholding the Maui Jim culture and retail standards.

Work Schedule Requirements:

Retail store hours vary, typically from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday, with flexibility required to meet the needs of the business. Candidates must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as necessary to support store operations and ensure team coverage. Availability to fill scheduling gaps as needed to ensure seamless business operations and staffing coverage.

The primary responsibilities and duties of this position are:

  1. Deliver exceptional customer service, demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills, and act as a product expert.
  2. Coach the team on product knowledge and sales techniques to maximize productivity and customer loyalty.
  3. Continuously improve sales, service, and operational processes to enhance the customer experience and foster a positive store environment.
  4. Collaborate with management on financial planning (revenue, expenses, profitability).
  5. Manage product flow, restocking, inventory, and daily store maintenance.
  6. Implement and maintain visual merchandising standards, execute floor sets, and manage POS operations (reconciliations, returns, exchanges, gift cards, discounts).
  7. Oversee merchandising, ensure proper product display, manage inventory levels (including ordering), and assist with store events and promotions.
  8. Support scheduling, coordinating time off and breaks, and ensuring adequate coverage.
  9. Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, and training new team members, ensuring the store is staffed with qualified individuals who embody the brand's values.
  10. Motivate and inspire the team, address employee concerns professionally, conduct performance check-ins, and lead store meetings/training.
  11. Support marketing through local collaborations and act as a brand ambassador in the community.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

As a guide, indicated below is the preferred education and experience for this position:

3-5 years of experience in retail management or a similar client services leadership role. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Experience in the eyewear industry is a plus, though not required.

  2. Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to resolve issues efficiently.
  3. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  4. Dependable, responsible, and demonstrates high integrity.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Strong organizational and business skills to manage store operations.
  7. Proficiency with POS systems and software, with the ability to perform data entry efficiently.
  8. The ability to evaluate and repair eyewear products is a plus.
  9. Professional appearance and demeanor, acting as a positive representative of the company to both customers and team members.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to a full work shift. Includes using ladders and stairs as part of daily operations.
  2. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds to manage inventory, stock shelves, and set up displays.
  3. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to reach merchandise, organize stock, and maintain store cleanliness.
  4. Ability to reach above shoulders and below the knees to access merchandise and stock.
  5. Sufficient visual acuity to operate POS systems, assess product quality, and ensure accurate transactions.
  6. Sufficient manual dexterity to handle merchandise, operate POS systems, and perform other tasks requiring fine motor skills.
  7. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and staff, both verbally and in writing.
  8. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required and fill scheduling gaps required for the business needs.
  9. Reliable transportation to travel between assigned stores.
