ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PURCHASING

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is looking for an Assistant Director of Purchasing. Candidates with a passion for excellence, expertise in hospitality operations and proven leadership experience are invited to apply for a career with Four Seasons. As a member of the Purchasing team, the Assistant Director works across disciplines to deliver an exceptional experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manages the staff of the Purchasing Department. Interviews and trains the staff. Conducts Performance Evaluations and disciplines staff when needed. Assures daily labor report and bi-weekly payroll submission is accurate and complete. Ensures communications and follow-up on any problems, guest requests or special requirements.
  • Schedules staff. Makes or coordinates the daily assignment of work. Oversees the start of each shift. Monitors daily assignments to assure that productivity and quality standards are being met, staff is being supported and guest needs are being met. Inspects all areas of responsibility daily.
  • Orders food and beverage items according to specification ensuring timeliness of deliveries; ensures departments are receiving what is necessary and in a timely manner, responds to all requests in the highest level of professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible, follows all Accounting practices for completion and approval of purchase orders. Establishes and maintains par stock on non-food, food and beverage items, will assist in the purchases related to capital projects. Work closely with Chefs to maximize food cost efficiencies.
  • Assures the financial goals of the department are being met. Monitors and controls labor expense and conducts quality control audits to ensure staff is properly trained and following established procedures. Participates in month end and quarterly inventories of food, beverage, operating equipment and supplies. Assures that equipment is properly maintained. Assists in the preparation of the annual budget for labor and operating expense and for items to be included in the annual Capital Plan.
  • Assures effective operation of the department in the absence of the Director of Purchasing.
  • Takes action in all matters related to the safety, security, satisfaction and well being of hotel guests and employees. Responds swiftly and effectively in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Assist with regular cleaning and re-organization of storerooms. Receive, log and deliver all guest packages on daily basis. Inspect all goods at delivery entrance of hotel to determine if orders are correct and of good quality
WHAT TO BRING
  • At least two years of supervisory experience in Purchasing preferably in a hotel environment.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of upscale food and beverage products required by a luxury hotel.
  • Successful candidate must possess legal work authorization in United States.
  • Weekend & Holiday availability required
