$3,484 to $4,409 per month (SR-11, Step C to I)

Performs extensive field work and outreach functions; serves as liaison between professional staff and clients, and/or potential clients; performs preliminary screening for continued eligibility for social service programs.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent, or experience which demonstrated the ability to read, comprehend and apply written directions, a high degree of verbal skill and the ability to make basic mathematical computations, including averaging.
Specialized Experience: Three years of experience providing supportive services to professional workers in a social service or a health-related agency e.g., performing clerical tasks in processing various documents, transporting clients and materials to and from various destinations, observing and reporting of client interactions, emotional, physical or mental symptoms and problems; explaining to clients or tenants the services available, assisting in overseeing group activities such as bowling and swimming. Experience must have involved engaging with clients.
Applicants for Social Service Assistant IV
must possess at least one year of experience comparable to the Social Service Aid III in State government.Social Service Aid III: Independently provides all supportive services for a unit or team; participates in team activities; does limited field work including checking with clients, encouraging them to use available resources, following up on cases on a periodic basis, relaying information, problems and observations to the professional staff.

Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for some positions. For these positions, a valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS (PSLF) PROGRAMThe PSLF Program is a federal program that is intended to encourage individuals to work in public service by forgiving the balance of their federal student loans. To qualify, the individual must have made 120 qualifying payments while employed by a qualifying employer.
