POSITION TITLE: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST I – IV (ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS SPECIALIST) (REGIONAL)

LOCATION: This is a regional position located in the Data Processing Information Technology (IT) department of Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), and The Kaua'i Region Clinics.
The Data Processing/Information Technology (IT) department is responsible for the overall evaluation, planning, analysis, development, improvement, and support of the Kaua'i Region's information technology systems and tools.
JOB FUNCTIONS: We are actively seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced individual to join our growing ‘ohana as our Information Technology (IT) Specialist I-IV (EHR Specialist) (Regional). As the IT Specialist, you will coordinate, facilitate, and assist with the development, ongoing maintenance, evaluation, and optimization of a region-wide electronic health records system. Responsibilities include direct support to Kaua'i Region clinicians in their use of our EHR system; competency validation; evaluating and optimizing internal workflows; and serving as a liaison between our EHR system and EHR vendor to communicate necessary technical enhancements and troubleshooting issues. This IT Specialist will also engage, facilitate, and encourage collaboration among facilities/SMEs and end users to accomplish these outcomes. The position may require shifts, weekends, holidays, irregular hours, and long hours, as well as travel to each facility, clinic, and off-island for training or education on the EHR systems. This position reports to the IT Systems Manager I (Regional), or its designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. All applicants are required to provide evidence of all applicable education, licenses, and certifications.
Education: Graduation with a bachelor's degree from an accredited (4) year college or university. Major coursework in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
Specialized Experience: Progressively responsible work experience in information technology involving systems analysis, design, programming, security and access management, database design, management, consulting, and/or installing and maintaining computer software applications, hardware, telecommunications, and web or network infrastructure equipment. The work must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of information technology principles, methods, techniques, and practices; computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment; and personal computer, server, mini, and/or mainframe operating systems:

*For the IT Specialist IV and higher levels, at least one year of the required specialized experience must have been at the fully competent level comparable to the IT Specialist III level.
Work experience with Cerner Community Works Electronic Health Records system as a subject matter expert (SME) preferred.
Certification: None required.
