The City needs you to ensure that all professional electrical engineering work for water systems, and construction work for residential and commercial buildings meet the safety standards. You will perform difficult professional engineering work in reviewing and analyzing electrical designs, plans, and specifications for adequacy and compliance with provisions of the electrical code and departmental standards; and perform other related duties as required. You must be able to climb ladders, climb over, and crawl under structures with the occasional lifting and exertion for short periods as you ensure contractors have thoroughly performed all tasks to your high standards. Inspections may or may not be at a construction site where you may be exposed to construction and traffic hazards, chemicals, noise, moving equipment, and electrical hazards such as an arc flash.

At the time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty. Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided.
