Work Experience Description:
Suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses.

Job Summary

Supports leadership development and service projects for students while assisting with office and program management duties within the Student Council (SC) and Student Leadership Services (SLS) Department.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Participate in and support leadership development initiatives for students.
  • Engage in council meetings to review and set policies, procedures, and direction for service projects.
  • File and maintain all progressive paperwork for projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare and distribute surveys to assess overall programming effectiveness.
  • Attend weekly 1-on-1 stewardship meetings with SC Student Supervisor.
  • Commit to scheduled office hours to support others and fulfill responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with the SC Council.
  • Support SC Student Supervisor by completing delegated tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • Completion of at least 2 consecutive semesters on campus preferred.
  • Completion of "Lead Like the Savior" program desired.

Work Experience
  • Experience in an office setting with strong organizational skills.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Leadership experience overseeing others.
  • Experience with project management, proposals, data assessment, and evaluations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with multi-tasking, time management, and working effectively on a team.
  • Familiarity with Campus Labs Engage/OrgSync preferred.
  • Experience working with budgets and public speaking is a plus.

Additional Requirements
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Demonstrates leadership attributes such as integrity and ability to manage volunteers/employees.
  • Upholds the BYU-Hawaii Honor Code, mission, and vision.
  • Owns a current legal USA driver's license.
  • Commitment to at least 1 year of employment preferred.
